My Instagram feed is flooded with nothing but #coldplaymanila. The British rock band just had their first ever concert in the Philippines and I can’t wait for September when the band will head to Canada for the “A Head Full of Dreams Tour”. Chris Martin and the rest of the band will be rocking Rogers Place in Edmonton  for two consecutive nights before they will hit Vancouver for a one night gig.

The music of Coldplay has touched our lives one way or another. The song “Fix You” has taught someone about his father’s suicide.

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

How about this girl from the band’s Singapore show?

How can these artists write such beautiful lyrics that even when Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow announced their separation, they laid it in words that spell “conscious uncoupling”. I wonder if the band’s vocalist has something to do with what term to use in their joint statement.

What’s your Coldplay story? I will tell you mine…

Once upon a time, I suddenly woke up at 3:00 am and when I opened my eyes, the right one was so blurry and it seemed like there is a scratch right on my cornea. It felt gritty, painful and has turned red. It never ever happened to me before. Am I going to be blind?

Rolex woke up and asked if he should bring me to the hospital. I was scared. I want to cry but I can’t. Going blind is definitely one of my greatest fear. Thanks to God for presence of mind, I googled right away the symptoms I am experiencing (thanks to Google too). I found out that I was having a dry eye.

It dawned on me that during the day I was out in the -10°C weather tobogganing the snow covered hills in the park. Excessive exposure to the cold winter has caused my dry eye. What can I do to help myself? Google said I need artificial tears. What? I don’t have any single eye drop medication in the cabinet.

Light bulb moment! I played Coldplay’s The Scientist on my iphone. Boom! tears start to roll and my dry eye is gone.

Nobody said it was easy
It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Thank you Coldplay for saving me from dry eye.
